Hi All,

I have an opportunity to get a consultant job at MFT. I currently live in Pershore in West Midlands.

What should I expect from the move?

Which are the areas to live in Manchester where our lives could be similar to here.

Are you a family, it's a big move, are you looking to rent, I'd ask the hospitals accommodation office if they have accommodation, horniman house is for couples and family. Do you qualify for a relocation package to help with the move.

Do you know which site you'd be based at? Lots of our south Manchester consultants live in Trafford (good schools), some a bit further afield towards Preston and Warrington. I don't know Pershore at all so can't say how similar any of these places are!

Hi, I would be based at NMGH. Any ideas where the NMGH consultants choose to live ?

Pershore is a small town with good train access to London but surrounded by many small villages with scenic walks around .

pershore is very much self sufficient

Bury is the end of the tram line that serves NMGH. You could look at a town like Ramsbottom, just outside Bury. It has lovely walks and shops and restaurants

Pershore looks lovely I've just googled it 🤣

Prestwich or Monton are two lovely areas with easy access to NMGH.

Ramsbottom is a great shout, but it depends on what type of commute you are after.

Pershore is lovely and a wonderful place to bring up little children.

Do Prestwich and Monton have good schools too ?

There's good primary and secondary schools in both places- mixture of religious characteristics and not. Further afield are excellent independents, but I'd go to Manchester not Bury.

Prestwich is much better served by public transport though, if that is a consideration (getting into Manchester etc) and it does have the advantage of Heaton Park. There's a redevelopment in process, so whilst the village centre is in a state of flux at the minute there are some excellent local restaurants and bars.
