I live in the UK and work full-time as a general administrator/IT admin. I’ve gained some IT experience over the years (such as user IT support within the company, procuring and configuring computers, deploying network equipment, etc). I recently completed my bachelor’s degree in IT. During my studies, I covered CCNA material and obtained the EC-Council’s Ethical Hacker certification as part of my university curriculum.
I’m not sure what to do next. I’m quite interested in cyber security, but I’m also open to other fields. Should I focus on cyber security and, for example, work towards the CompTIA Security+ certification? Or should I start applying for jobs now (if so, could you advise on the best places to look and what jobs to apply for)? Or should I continue in my current role, even though I don’t see many opportunities for further career progression in IT here? Or do something else?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated
