Really annoying colleagues not pulling their weight, WWYD?

I work in a busy office.

I’d say a good 80% of us are always focussed and working. But 20% of them rarely work, seem to always be chatting and distracting the rest of us, yelling and just not really pulling their weight. Today it’s ended with me working across four departments to make up for their lack of work this week.

WWYD? I don’t really know if there’s any recourse?

Well if you keep doing the work that the slackers are meant to be doing, then nothing will change.

Stop being a work martyr - let their work areas fail and then some higher up cuntoid will sit up and take notice.

What's your position there, why are you covering their work.

I get asked to do it by higher ups

Time to start slowing down on your own work so you don't have time to finish other people's, have any of you spoken to management about it, what sort of work is it, how long have you been there. You always get workers and shirkers, unless anyone is at risk of harm I'd just say no sorry can't help or look for another job.

Cop out.

You should say you are at capacity and that they should ask the lazy ones.

Stop making excuses for why you work more and instead focus on why you should do less.

As said, nothing will change while you continue to be a work martyr. No one here can fix that for you.

IDontHateRainbows · 05/12/2025 19:53

'Hey boss, happy to help but im really focused on getting the X work done today , I believe Janet may have some capacity?'

Zempy · 05/12/2025 19:59

Stop being the office martyr.

Tell manager you don’t have capacity for additional work. Don’t let them use your weakness to cover up their shit management skills.

Well clearly you have a word with your manager and ask them to sort them out.

Tell them you won't be picking up their work anymore.
