How to get a part time job

I need to find a new job and I need a part time job due to childcare. I wonder how can I find one? Most jobs advertised in my industry/ job type are full time.
Is there a trick? Some practical advice would be much appreciated.

Are you happy with minimum wage type work or looking for something in your field?

In general I'd suggest getting a full time role with a huge employer then asking if you can start part time 'for a while'. After going through the pain of recruiting they may just agree. I'm thinking civil service or similar.

I would like a job in my field (not minimum wage), so you think I get full time job and ask to reduce hours in 6 months or so ? My friends suggested the same. I guess it could work with a big employer, not ideal for them. But I have heard of people doing it.
