If I’ve not heard back in 2 weeks?

I applied for a job which seemed to be a most perfect fit for my skills and experience. I could literally tick every box on the personal specification. The application deadline was almost 2 weeks ago. The online portal is still at ‘shortlisting’ … Is it time to give up hope and move on or could they still be considering applications? It’s a public sector job if that makes a difference?

If it says shortlisting that is exactly what they are doing - could be down to all number of reasons - staff ill/on leave, volume of applications, etc. If it was done through a portal you'll know in time whether you have progressed to the next stage or noy.

Thank you, that is reassuring. I was wondering as I am used to working in sector which has a very fast recruitment turnaround. the waiting is making me nervous
