Does that mean I put in my email address in the box? It's to book a remote interview. TIA.

Yes, your email address. Good luck.

Hotmess101 · 19/11/2025 20:53

Do you have a Teams log in? It will usually be your email and password. It needs to have been set up in advance as a Teams log in though, Teams is a programme on Microsoft Windows. So it won’t just recognise any old email address, you need an account.

MrsJamin · 19/11/2025 20:55

That's a really shitty thing to do to an applicant!

Thank you, I usually get into it via my emails at work.

Oh no. I wonder why they're doing this.

Just put in your personal email address, and that’s where the invite will go to. You can join a Team call from a browser without having the Teams application installed.

Hotmess101 · 19/11/2025 21:03

Oh sorry that’s right actually, you don’t need a Teams account, I had this with an interview a few years ago, totally forgot! I blame perimenopause 😵‍💫 good luck for the interview!

user1471867483 · 19/11/2025 21:08

Thank you, people. When I looked up why interviewers use remote interviews, it says it's used when jobs have a high turnover 🤦

it’s not shitty, they’re literally just asking for the contact details. They’re doing it so they know where to send the invite. If it was a phone interview it would be pleas enter your phone number

Can be used for so many things, easier for those interviewing, they might not be in one location, they might be wfh, saves the candidate travel time for initial etc

We do it because we assume candidates don’t want to take half a day off work for a one hour interview…so don’t necessarily panic.

ElizabethsTailor · 19/11/2025 21:12

What kind of job is it?

I hire a lot (large team of highly paid professionals) and 90% or more of the time interviews are remote.

DisappointedD · 19/11/2025 21:12

Just been through quite a few interviews and most first & second rounds were teams calls. Saves a lot of time for everyone

ILoveDuckDuckGo · 19/11/2025 21:12

Nothing shitty at all.
They will send you a link which you click. If link doesn’t work, copy and paste the meeting ID and passcode that you find just under the link (which says "Join the meeting now” in bold purple/blue letters)
Best wishes for the interview

Ineffable23 · 19/11/2025 21:15

We do it because we figure it means it is waay more likely people can actually attend. No taking a half or whole day off for the interview. We have offices all over the country and people can be based in any of them so it could easily be a 4+ hour train if we interviewed in London. Plus for most of our potential employees they are highly likely to be able to wrangle a day working from home and then an hour out of that day whereas a half day or whole day at short notice can be a total nightmare.

The civil service use online interviews a lot.

Hi. It's an admin post (coordinator) in the NHS.

I wouldn’t read anything negative into it being a Teams interview then. Perfectly normal 😊

Best of luck. I am sure you will do great!

EBearhug · 20/11/2025 08:13

We've been doing it because one of the interviewers is going through a course of chemo and so is currently immunosuppressive and isn't coming into the germ-ridden office.

youegg · 20/11/2025 08:17

Christ dont share your bloody password like a PP has suggested. Just share the email address that you would like a Teams meeting invite to be sent to.

Nothing to read into it. Our interviewers and interviewees can be all over the country so Teams Is a good way to do a first interview at least. I’ve hired people off only Teams without a second thought.

Why? It saves them having to travel.

MrsJamin · 20/11/2025 08:44

Because not everyone has a Team account, of course! Done a dozen interviews on video calls but none that make you register for teams first.

And that’s why you shouldn’t believe everything that AI tells you! There are a whole load of reasons why an interview is done on Teams. A remote team being the first thing that springs to mind. Which is a good thing!
