Pay cut after redundancy

Anyone ever been forced to take a big pay cut at a new job following redundancy? Did you ever get back to same salary level?

My job paid me above the going rate and it seems like a big pay cut is inevitable. Make me feel better about it!

Yes. Not sure I can make you feel better, it’s shit. Silver lining is that it allows you to think about how much time you’re giving your job, stop unpaid overtime etc.

Start redoing the budget now

But the previous job doesn’t pay you at all anymore.

I got a better job after my job disappeared due to a change of work priorities. It’s not all doom and gloom.

Look at the net difference rather than gross. It’s generally less drastic.
