Should I apply for a job where I used to work?

Should I apply for a job at the private hospital after 15 years? It's been 15 years since I left that workplace. I worked there for 5 years as a float secretary before moving to the NHS. Now, my contract at the NHS has ended, and the private hospital is advertising the same role. Should I consider going back? I feel hesitant about returning as not much has changed in my personal or professional life since then. Some of the same familiar faces are still working there. Should I let embarrassment hold me back from applying? What are the pros and cons of revisiting my past workplace after all these years? I could use some advice on making this decision. TIA.

Did you leave on good terms? If so then definitely apply. Definitely don’t let embarrassment hold you back.

personally I don’t like going back on myself but a job is a job isn’t it - presumably you need to be working.

Yeah, I don't think it's good to go back-over either.

Why did you leave and did you leave on good terms?

If you liked it when you worked there then go for it. There is an idea in working life that we should always be moving on and moving forwards, but ultimately the majority of us just work to put money in our pockets. Unless they were the worst five years of your working life then go for it.

I went back to a previous employer after 12 years away, similar reservations and I initially went back as a temp but it turned out to be a whole different place with much better culture.

I ended up applying for a permanent role and still work within the “group” 6 years later……..

I was there as an ongoing temp and went from office to office as a float secretary. I didn't leave on my bad terms; the worst was being excluded from Christmas gifts. However, my current contract has ended abruptly and I'm in a bit of a quandary in that I have no job to go to ☹️

I would apply - what have you got to lose?
