Applying for jobs post layoffs

I work for large biotech company and recently there has been redundancies in my dept in my company. My whole team is been impacted. As soon as the redundancy news were shared end of July, I started looking for jobs from early Aug. I have 3-4 interviews since then as well but no job offers yet. While looking for jobs I see recently it's been very tricky to even get an interview. Most of the pharma industry is laying off in UK. The new job openings are slower. I have never been in this situation before. Can anyone share their experience how they managed to get out of this period of finishing job at one place and securing another job? I finished my job end of Sept and still haven't been able to secure anything.

I was laid off from a company providing services to biotech companies because of a lot of reprioritisation of assets in the sector. It is a hard market right now. I’d been looking anyway but managed to secure a job for a much smaller company and now I’m working as a contractor for my company to a big biotech. I’d suggest you try contracting to get you some contacts in the industry and sometimes (certainly in biotech I’m working for) they turn contractors into full time employees but I’d work for yourself so you don’t have any clauses in the contract re they can’t hire you (which is the position I’m in now). It takes a lot of tenacity to look for jobs and not got disheartened. Otherwise use it as an opportunity to retrain and do something else!

There are a large number of pharma /med device companies in ireland and depending on your role,(reg etc) many jobs are advertised as full remote . Might be worth a try.
