Do you connect with the interview panel after an unsuccessful interview? Do you add a personal message?

I don’t because I would find it too awkward but I’m interested to hear other people’s views.

I would, if the interview process was fair and it was a company I would still like to work for in the future. I’d connect and send a brief message, ‘thanks so much for your time and feedback on my recent interview. Would be great to stay connected’ But equally, not weird to just send a connection request with no message.

Do you want to work for the company in the future? Were you happy with how the interview was conducted? Did you receive feedback?

Interview went well and would apply to the company again. I don’t know if sending a personalised message is a bit awkward for them - what would they say back? Also don’t know enough about LinkedIn to know if it’s actually beneficial to add them!

Totally beneficial to add them if you’d like to apply to the company again. It’s good for you to see their activity in the company, could help with future interviews, and likewise for them to see your activity in your career. If it was me, I’d just send a very brief message ‘Thanks so much for your time during my recent interview. Would be great to stay connected’. I wouldn’t even expect a response to be honest, would just be nice if they accepted the connection request. For all you know, the new hire may not work out, you were #2 and your professionalism and maturity in connecting puts you in line for the role, or for another future role. I use LinkedIn a lot and all of the above would be totally acceptable in my role and industry.

Can I ask why kind of role/industry you applied for?
