So fed up feeling like this because of work.

No stability.

Im not confident to book a holiday for next year, worrying about my car payments which are over 3 years, doing anything major on the house because my job seems to me to be so unstable.

There have been people just “gone”, now redundancies letting go people who have been there for years.

I am anxious all the time, if anyone from management wants to meet me, I’m automatically in the fight or flight thinking I’m gone.

Im looking for other jobs, there’s not much out there.

Does anyone else understand this?
Anyone been made redundant? Where there clues and hints in the lead up or totally out of the blue?

That sounds tough. Unfortunately no one is ever 100% safe in their role.

don’t fear the reaper, look for other opportunities but hold on for redundancy

Redundancies can come totally out of the blue, which is why it's always a good idea to have your CV up to date. Sometimes there are no signs, other times if a company is in financial straits then it's more obvious that a redundancy exercise might be on the way. I've gone through three redundancy processes but I have never been made redundant - ironically I WILL be made redundant in 2028/2029 as my organisation has a limited lifespan. So I have signed up to job alerts, updated my CV, etc. It's tricky coping with instability but taking proactive measures will help you to feel more in control and if it does come down to a redundancy situation then I would try to view it as an opportunity to make a move to an even better position and presumably you would get a pay out?

I understand how you’re feeling as my position at work is pretty much the same. We’re going through a takeover and everyone is very aware that no-one’s job is safe (they got rid of the CEO within the first few days so that pretty much set the tone). The messages are becoming more and more negative and the feeling of uncertainty hangs over us all. Morale is at an all time low. Pressure and work demands are at their highest and everyone is living in fear because we know more cuts are coming but don’t know when exactly or who will go. It makes it impossible to plan anything and the external job market is so dire that finding another role will be difficult so the potential financial impact could be life-changing (and not in a good way).

Oh my, this is heartbreaking. I’m so sorry this is happening to you x
