Informal 20mins call with Director

Hello all

Please need your take on this

I had an initial ms teams interview screening out process and I was part of 4 that made to next round . I was 90% positive because of how the discussion went and they were really impressed with my face to face second interview

Hiring manager told me they will definitely get back to me end of Thursday or Friday last week,

On Friday I got an email saying would I be free to have a 20mins catchup call with a Director for a final discussion about the role

I’m quite nervous but does anyone know what this can be about ? Maybe a cultures and values fit but what kind of questions can come out of it pls ?

Thank you

I think this is positive. On my final interview I was told "just don't call him short and the job is yours". I think similar for you.

Yes this will likely be a precursor to formal offer. I run a team and am a hiring manager and my boss along with HR lady do this 20 minute informal call at our company, essentially to ensure they agree with my suggestion to offer the role to the candidate. Only one time have they VETO’d me and that was due to their opinion that the candidates only motivation was increased salary. It’s generally a whistle stop tour of general interview questions (career summary, are you used to high volume of work, why do you want the role etc etc) with underlying intention of personality evaluation. If it’s obvious on the call, at my place of work, they get right into salary chat on the director/HR meeting. Another possibility is there are 2 candidates neck and neck and the director will make the final decision.

Good luck!

Thank you very much

this is really helpful

from your perspective, I should be prepared to go through things like my experience in one go, motivation and cultural fit during that 20mins ?

gosh I hope it’s not a neck to neck situation, that makes me more nervous 😬
