Amazon health & safety rules

My DS is 18 and yesterday started a temporary job at Amazon which is for 12 weeks. He got told that in future he needs to either remove his chain or hoody drawstrings for health and safety reasons (conveyor belts) but can keep one. Why is this? Makes no sense to keep one surely?

So the items of clothing dont get caught and drag him into machinery. Amazon UK has brilliant health and safety records

Yes you're right keeping one doesn't make sense. That part will be a mistake

Entirely agree!

I reckon his hoodie strings should definitely be taken out even if his chain stays on

Definitely makes no sense to keep one, so surely the safest thing is to get rid of both?

He’s probably misheard but why doesn’t he just do as he’s told and remove both

Nope it's definitely just one, he was told you can "only have one dangly thing". Well he'll either have to be chainless or lose his hoody strings on his next shift. Tough choice 😁
