Manager rubbish at their job

Need some advice please, I’ve been asked to step up into my managers role for a few weeks. Fine, I’m getting paid for it.

It’s become apparent that the manager hasn’t done their job and has fucked up royally. I can’t fix anything as I haven’t been given access to all the systems (manager is off on sickness leave). People are hopping mad as they can’t do their jobs properly.

How on earth do I handle this when they come back? My trust in my manager has gone completely and I feel like they’ve left me dealing with some very angry people.

There must be someone other than your manager who can give you the access you need. Your IT dept would be a good start.
what would happen if the manager dropped down dead?

@popcornfrenzy separate it out.

The important thing is getting full access to the IT systems asap so you can do the job properly. As the pp said there will always be a way to get access.

WRT your manager it’s not your job to handle it. That’s for their manager. I understand about trust, but it maybe your manager has more going on that you don5 know about. It’s shit you are having to pick up their mess but it’s also an opportunity to show wha5 you can do.
