How many hours over your contracted hours do you do?

I work at company were we are contracted to work 40 hours per week over 5 days.

However, my colleagues and I regularly work 11-12 hour days without taking a break.

This is due to workload.

I’ve not worked like this before and have always had jobs where I work my hours.

It’s office based work in the city.

I like my job but would prefer better work life balance but no sure if this is just a dream.

If you also work in an office role is this normal for you too?

Current job- any additional hours would either be overtime, or time back in lieu

Previous job- I likely worked 7-20hrs each week over my contacted hours. The manager would book clients in before my start time and we were expected to stay back until a courier collected certain things- which could vary every day. She'd call me back on my lunch break too. I only stayed till I found something else.

You are legally allowed breaks OP! I'd be looking elsewhere, otherwise, you will be burnt out for nothing.

39hours contracted at 50k base
anything past that is paid at 1.5x pay after finish time, 2x pay for hours before start time. And if I get a call in the evenings to log on after I have logged off it’s a call out at 4hours pay 1.5x…even if I log on for only an hour.

this week I had 4 call-outs at 4 [email protected] pay and 1hour @ 2x pay
