As per the title, I’m looking for a career change but would like to know what qualifications are necessary to be accepted into a role within housing.

I work in local government and have previously worked in a similar department. You'll need knowledge of housing law and regulations, and ideally experience in a similar role eg homelessness charity. As well as computer literacy.

Why do you want this role? They are under incredible pressure, over worked and under staffed and most of their day as far as I can see is dealing with complaints and people who want things that can't be provided in terms of housing options.

I enjoy providing customer service and happy to deal with complaints.
hard to get experience if nowhere will take you without experience though!
Any qualifications needed aswell as experience? I’ve looked into it and they’re pricey courses so i want to make sure I’d definitely need them before paying out.

My friend moved into this by living off her savings and volunteering for 6 months in housing shelters etc. got her foot in the door at a housing association and she has worked her way up.

however it is incredibly stressful, it seems to take over your life somewhat! Very challenging but rewarding at times
