DBS stage 4

Hi all. My dbs is till stuck on stage 4, it’s been 8 weeks now since applying. My local police constabulary have confirmed they’ve completed and returned my application to DBS last week. I’ve tried contacting dbs to ask for an update of how long until they update the tracker. The advisor said that stage 4 isn’t local police searching even though that’s what it says on Google. He said it searches police forces all over the country. Has anyone had one done recently, how long did it take for you? Thank you

Yheres a time frame (poss 2 months) when your new employer can ask for an update until then you’ve just got to sit and wait and be grateful that these checks are in place. It can take 3 months.

Contacting the police to ask if they’ve done their check is just bizarre. You new employer should be your contact

Commenting with emotional support ❤️❤️ I've seen your other post @Dobbie18 it's so nerve wracking isn't it?! I've heard that Sept is a peak period and it can take a really long time? Which constabulary are you with?

When this happened to me I had lived in three constabulary areas over three years. Eventually my new employer started to think there must be something on my record. In fact, DBS had decided an enhanced check wasn’t necessary for the job. I already had an enhanced check on the update service. So when your check does come though, pay the £14 and get your DBS number on the update service. They remind me every year that the £14 is due and it saves the stress of waiting at Stage 4 every time. All enhanced DBS checks take longest at Stage 4 and it’s the busiest time of year.

There is a third party which does the ID checks that has had a massive data breach in the last 6 weeks. They deal with around 20k companies around the UK.
Not all companies use this company so I may be totally barking up the wrong tree.

You won't have had your details taken if you were only 8 weeks ago (and everyone should have been contacted who was effected) but it may have slowed things down potentially.
I know multiple people effected, and some of them have been effected more than once with different DBSes.
