Marlow v Amersham v Berkhamsted

We are thinking of moving to one of the above three towns. Price wise, they are all quite evenly matched. The commute is better from Berkhamsted and Amersham arguably, but we loved Marlow the most when looking round.

What I'm most interested in is the community spirit, the social scene and where our children (3 and 1 currently) would have the best upbringing - being able to involve themselves in local clubs etc?

I live near Marlow and DC are at the Grammar School . DC are now teens , we love the area - the woods and the river - there is lots of National Trust land near by , and generally it’s well covered by public footpaths . There is plenty going on for your DC to get involved in so far as normal after school type clubs - beavers/ scouts / kayaking classes at Longridge , sea scouts , running clubs - allsorts of things really .

Marlow is exceptionally busy at weekends though , it’s a bit of a tourist trap and parking is a bit lacking . For some reason too the house prices seem to have rocketed compared to the surrounding areas .

I would be surprised if the house prices were similar to Amersham and Berkhamstead - but the houses near the a404 are cheaper for obvious reasons .

All the schools are good and there are plenty of good commutable private options as well .

Commuting - I think a fair few people go from High Wycombe rather than using the branch line to Maidenhead and the Elizabeth Line . We don’t commute regularly anymore - wfh - but when I do use the train the Elizabeth Line is brilliant
