Moving to Marlow

Has anyone got any advice on moving to Marlow from London and whether it’s a nice place to live for young families? My husband and I both work in London and would need to commute 2/3 days. Do many London commuters live in Marlow? What is the preferred route- do people drive to Maidenhead and is parking an option? All advice welcome!!

Marlow is a lovely - if pretty expensive - town. Plenty of good state primary schools, and independent preps in reach if that’s what you are after.
Taking the train from Marlow has been a bit screwed by GWR - no through train to London anymore, and you also have to switch platforms at Bourne End, so pretty tedious. Lots of stories of the branch line from Maidenhead to Marlow being timed badly for returning from London.

They’ve built a new multi-storey car park in Maidenhead (it’s a short walk away) so I think parking capacity is available - that one (Vicus Way) is £7/day. Lots of people do the journey between Marlow and Maidenhead by car; the roundabout onto the A404 at Bisham can get sticky at times, but generally it should be fine.

Consider catchments for state, if that is your intention for secondary - they are small… (plus the grammar school factor)

Marlow is a lovely town but it’s a PITA to commute from. Yes trains from Maidenhead or High Wycombe are your best bet, and Maidenhead now offers the Elizabeth line option. But don’t underestimate the traffic to get to/from the station at rush hours -
there are a lot of bottlenecks around Marlow. If he can flex his travelling hours that makes it a lot better. I don’t know about getting parking spaces but imagine it may be competitive.
