I have overheard one of the directors of my workplace commenting on my workload and questioning how im filling my time. I have worked here 2 months however haven’t received a contract . Are they able to get rid of me without notice, what are my rights if they do?

You haven’t had a contract at all? No written confirmation of your working hours, holiday entitlement, sick pay etc?

Just so you know even without a contract you still have rights to things like breaks, minimum wage, maternity leave etc. But you should definitely ask them for a contract.

if you have been with a company over 1 months but less than 24 months you have to be given 1 weeks notice before termination. Terminating your employment without any notice is only allowed if they can prove gross misconduct, such as stealing, aggression etc. Not just if they think you’re not busy enough. To fight this you could go to an employment tribunal.

Whether or not you have had anything in writing, you do have a contract.

Do you think you have a full workload? Presumably they thought you would have when they took you on only 2 months ago. If you don’t, is that because you are still learning the ropes or because you genuinely do not have enough to do?

If the latter, I would be mentioning it to my manager and volunteering to take on additional duties and/or to help others who might have too much on their plates.
