I’m applying for an internal role. The position has been open for a week and was originally due to close in a couple of days. However, I believe there hasn’t been much interest possibly because one of the qualifications was initially listed as required so they have now changed it to desirable.
I currently work on an unsalaried basis, where I’m allocated work as needed although this has been consistent. The job advert lists a salary range with about a £7k difference between the low and high ends. I’ve been in my current role for 3 years. While I don’t meet all the desirable criteria, I already perform much of the job, though with less admin responsibility. I could quickly acquire one of the missing qualifications and, if employed, could likely get funding to develop the other.
Although I suspect a more senior colleague, who has significantly more experience and is generally more involved than I am, may also apply. She is in her 70s, already meets more of the criteria, and is currently pursuing one of the qualifications required for the role, which the organisation is funding, as she is interested in a similar position. Not very hopeful, I'd get it but I think it’s still worth applying.
I’m unsure what to put for salary expectations should I choose the lower end, something slightly above it based on my experience, or the midpoint, considering I don’t meet all the desirable skills?
