Best way to negotiate pay and pension contributions

Is it possible to negotiate pension contributions by an employer?

What is the best way to discuss about a permanent role for a charity the hourly pay for example. Thinking long-term, is there a way to ensure pay reviews? What would be advisable to add into a contract? Thanks!

  1. It depends on the pension scheme but it is feasible to negotiate a higher employer pension contribution.
  2. Pay reviews - yes you can ask for annual pay reviews to be contractual. For an employer that is a no brainer, they can do a review each year but decide 0% increase. They have done the review as per the contract.
  3. Pay increases - this will depend on the organisation, their pay structures, funding and feasibility etc. You can ask but I suspect they may not have the ability to agree to a contractual annual increase.
