Repairing my reputation after illness

I was ill for a long time, and came back to work on a phased return before I was really ready. During that period, I really struggled to do my job, and made a lot of mistakes. I am now better and have had some good feedback for the recent work that I have done, but I am really aware that it will take a long time to build my reputation back up.

I can tell that my manager doesn't quite trust me yet, it's like whenever I make a suggestion she interprets it in a way that makes it a bad idea, rather than in a way that would make it a good one. Hard to explain, but I am just very aware that she doesn't yet consider me a safe pair of hands.

I know it will take time, but has anyone got any ideas about how to go about this other than continuing to consistently deliver?

No I’m sorry I don’t think there’s any shortcut here. It’s just a case of trucking on. But hold your head high, you’re back on track and I don’t think it will take long.

Keep a record of everything you do. This will build your own confidence and is handy evidence for review.

Thanks, keeping a record is a really good idea. I think I also need to stop referring to my illness and the fact that I am getting better, so that it isn't on people's minds.
