Off sick and I know they'll be so short-staffed next week :(

I'm currently signed off sick with a health condition that flares up from time to time. I'm coming to the end of a 2 week sicknote and, having spoken with my GP today, they've suggested extending it by 1 more week.
I'm waiting to receive this sicknote (email) and will forward it to my employer. I feel so bad because I know they'll be short-staffed next week (a couple of people on the team with kids have been it off for school holidays). The team will really struggle with 3 of us off next week.
I'm waiting to receive the sicknote by email before advising my manager of the GP's recommendation that I have this extra week off.
What do I say? I know sickness can't be helped but is it normal to feel so guilty about leaving employer short-staffed? :'(.

You can't help being poorly and yes it's normal to feel guilty but don't.

Hope you feel better soon x

Yes normal but not your problem. I usually message my boss in advanced to say I doubt i will back next week but I work some where with lots of staff so it gives them time to get someone to cover my shifts
