Potential redundancies

I work for an international company but unfortunately the last few years we just haven’t been making a profit and it’s been getting worse. Slowly, one by one, they’ve got rid of my team so there’s only me left doing everyone’s jobs in my department. Other countries have people doing the same role but no scope to cover other countries. I’m hoping as I’m a team of 1 and my function is needed I’ll be ok but who knows!

Recently there’s been a shift, HR are in lots of closed door meetings and staff have been asked to update their job descriptions. I’m nearly 12 weeks pregnant and was hoping not to tell them until I was 16/17 weeks (just because I don’t think they’ll take it well). With potential redundancies is it worth me telling them at 12 weeks? Conscious I’m then protected by maternity laws.

If you are told you're 'at risk' and go into a consultation process, you can disclose at your first individual meeting. I don't think you get extra protection from telling them earlier.
