Have I been Ghosted after interview?!

I had a phone interview with two people at the end of May (I am being a tiny bit vague as I don't want to risk being outed). It went really well, and they said they'd be in touch to arrange the interview with the team/HR on site in due course. One of them was away for a week, and then another was ill, so it was re-scheduled for the first week of July. A couple of days before I was to go in, they called me and said they were due to have a meeting once the head of HR was back from a business trip the following week, about exactly what they were looking for re the role I applied for as well as a couple of other roles I might be suitable for, and that they'd be in touch, sounded genuinely sorry.
I haven't heard since! I chased about 10 days ago to say I was still interested. Still nothing!

Is this normal?! It doesn't bode well, does it?! Not even a basic courtesy to let me know either way.

Would you follow up or shall I just assume they are ghosting me?

AFAIK they have not been to the Coldplay gig.

My dh had similar recently. Went through multiple interview stages, all really positive, practically told him he’d got the job just needed to meet one more higher up - then ghosted him. Chased up but nothing.

These things can take time but I wouldn't chase it again. I would look to other options as it all seems up in the air and might come to nothing. Like you say the fact they haven't responded to you is not very courteous.

Thank for the answers. So gutted. I have spent hours applying, prepping for interview etc.

If any employers are on here and have ghosted people, I'd like to hear your reasoning.

I posted on another thread just like this last night. It seems a really common problem! My partner has been waiting 3/4 weeks to hear back after his second interview. He says he has a friend who has been waiting 6 weeks to hear back.

I think it's unbelievably rude.

It really is terrible, I haven't moved jobs in eight years and it was never like this, ime. I'm glad it's not just me though, so at least it's not personal.
