Sick note

Couldntthinkofausername24 · 21/07/2025 15:44

Ive been signed off sick. Partly health issues and partly work bullying from boss

I emailed dates to boss and sick note to HR explaining a brief summary of why I was off and that I would elaborate more if required and asked for my sick note to NOT be sent to my boss

They sent my note to boss

Is this right?

You can ask them not to send your fit note to your line manager - you can't make them not send it.

I agree. There isn't much you can do to stop them passing the sicknote to your boss. He is your manager.

Line managers are responsible for managing absence, not HR.
Have you raised a formal grievance? If there was a grievance in place, it may be more appropriate for another manager to manage your absence - but otherwise it will always go to your line manager.

They shouldn't have done that under the circumstances.

On what basis do you say that? There is no reason that they can't give it to the line manager.

It should go to your line manager.
