NHS Maternity & Career Break

Hello,

I’ve recently been off on maternity leave and have also taken a short career break at the end of maternity, has anybody done the same and then not returned to work? I know they have a thing where you have to pay back maternity if not returning but I wondered how they go about this?

Hi! How has you career break been defined with work?

With the NHS typically if you leave within 3 months of returning from your mat leave then you will have to pay back your maternity leave payments (not including SMP portion).

Hi!! Thanks for your response 😊 If you mean why did I ask for a break it was due to childcare issues and the fact I had two babies to think about childcare for/ had anxieties about leaving them! 😊
