Not ‘vulnerable’ enough for redeployment

Long time lurker, first time poster 👋 Looking for some advice/opinions please

Work have notified me of their intention to make my role redundant, ahead of formalising this however they have wound down the team claiming it was no longer business viable to keep us running. We have now been in this limbo of impending redundancy/redeployment for 6 months. I have recently seen a job vacancy in a related area that my manager agreed could be a good fit for me. I asked if could be considered for this via the redeployment process. So far I haven’t been granted this but they technically haven’t said no either. I appreciate we perhaps aren’t as at risk as those who have been given formal notice, and it could possibly be complicated in terms of legal repercussions? BUT by the companies definition we are ‘vulnerable’ e.g., staff displaced… role not featured in new proposed structure etc. and ultimately they have a duty to try and avoid redundancy. Just to add I also have maternity protection. Would you keep pushing for it?

Can’t you just apply for the job?
