Help me get a job!

I have done 34 interviews since being laid off last summer. And possibly more than 500 applications (average of 40 per month) also done a certification to upskill. Some interviews have been final rounds. But I’ve been ghosted after interviews at least 5 times. I am amazed at how much I am being ghosted. I’ve had enough experience with interviews. Done loads of practice. Done lots of mocks. DH has given up hope and I think I have too.

I was mid management in insurance sector and now I’m applying for jobs at supermarkets and admin positions paying minimum wage. I’m feeling FML. I have been on jobseekers benefits since using up my savings. DH’s salary is barely keeping us afloat. So he’s working extra hard and I’m doing all the housework and applying for all these jobs and giving interviews.

I don’t know what’s going wrong with me or my luck. If anyone has any suggestions/ advice please let me know.

Have you got your CV and letter (if used) reviewed by chat gpt or similar? Ask it for advice by giving it job ads and your CV.

Have you asked for / had any feedback on your interviews so far?

What hours are you looking for and how flexible are you? Have you looked at roles in schools/ NHS/ local government?

If you are doing 40 applications a month are your applications too generic/ not tailored to the role you're applying for? Are you getting in touch to ask about the role, visit the place, read up about it?

Ask ChatGPT for some sample interview questions for a particular role and then ask it for feedback on your answers. Good luck OP

  1. Yes. Feedbacks are generally- we found a candidate better suited. Or because I was a consultant previously so the industry says I don’t have in house experience.
  2. I was full time previously so I’m looking at full time roles but also open to part time. I would prefer a desk job rather than updating stocks at supermarkets.
I have recently started looking at NHS / etc for admin roles
  1. No my applications are not generic. It’s tailored for specific roles. I have a master CV and then I edit it for each position. And of course I prep before interviews - read about the companies, use their website, LinkedIn , Glassdoor and even FCA register so I’m fully prepared with the types of business they’re authorized to do in UK.

Thank you!
