Moving into childcare

I'm looking to potentially change my career path and move into working with children.

Ideally I'd love to work with SEN children in some capacity (but not a teacher). Does anyone know what qualifications I would need to do this, suggestions on what to be looking for and the best route to get in? Any advice appreciated.

I work in a completely different area currently so couldn't transfer any current qualifications.

There’s lots of information here: https://earlyyearscareers.campaign.gov.uk/

If working with children with Sen interests you, I know all the social schools in my area do take on volunteers. Perhaps contact the schools,in your area to see if you can gain some experience with them.

Being a TA or nursery assistant you don’t technically need qualifications above GCSES but some may want a level 2 or 3 in children’s education or early years. They also like experience so doing some volunteering can help.

They other option is set up a childminder business in your home.
