Starting a professional membership association

I'm idly fantasising about starting my own business. One thing I think I'd be good at is running a membership association for a profession. Networking events, conferences, training, mentoring, content and resources, awards etc. Either deadly serious or more sociable depending on the profession and members.

But what profession would need something like that? Where's the gap in the market?

Do you work in a niche that doesn't yet have a membership organisation? Would you benefit from a paid membership that brings you together with peers?

Lobbyists. We love a gossip and we’re literally professionals networkers.

The various PR bodies claim to cover public affairs (ie lobbying) but everyone is a bit snobby about them!

You’d have competition from the fabulous (and free) Women in Public Affairs. So maybe start one for men 😂
