Sick leave- teaching

Hi

I am currently signed off work with stress. Do I need to send in sick notes until the end of August as that’s when the teaching year ends? Also will the whole of the summer holidays be classed as sick leave? Or is it just working days that can be classed as sick days 🤔

Sorry to hear you aren’t well.

You would be best asking for the sickness policy and HR for where you work.

While OSP (occupational sick pay) or SSP (statutory sick pay) is being paid you will need to provide sick notes.

Usually sick leave doesn’t end until someone is back in the workplace so working pattern isn’t applied.

However, I’ve known many circumstances in seasonal work where the absence is closed when the employee would have felt well enough to return.
