WWYD- Job offer

Looking for advice/outside perspectives on a recent job offer and wether to go for it or stay put.

current role 3 days per week plus alternative Saturdays, av 29 hrs a week. 100% in person. 50k p/a.

new role. 4 days a week, no weekend working required, 32 hours per week, hybrid role 50% on site, 50% WFH, 46.5k p/a

am i mad for considering working more for less money? My current role is an hour commute each way so I’m often driving for 6/8 hours a week which substantially eating into family time as I’m often not home until 7pm.
i have one DS (2) who is in nursery 3 days a week and my parents support with additional childcare.
any thoughts and opinions please.

Unless there are other factors, eg one has better progression opportunities, 2nd job sounds better due to the hybrid working, no Saturdays and reduced commute. Would ask them to raise the salary - worth a try!

How much is no Saturday working worth to you? How much is 50% hybrid working worth to you?

What's the commute time for the new role ?

There is a lot to be said for free weekends and hybrid working, would the pay drop make a difference one you factor in commuting costs etc? Could you negotiate a bit more money? Even if they met you half way it would make a difference.

Second role sounds better and drop won’t be that noticeable with tax/ni.
