Work or, 3 days a week, monday, wednesday and Friday. Youngest ds (5) started with sickness bug last Thursday after school so had to ring in Friday to stay home with him. Last night eldest ds (10) started being sick about half 2 for the rest of the night so i’ve had to ring in again today. I’ve been in my current job for 18 years so they know me well and know id never take the piss but i just feel so guilty for ringing in again. Partner has just started a new job so couldn’t ring in and woudnt expect my parents to look after him whilst he’s throwing up and has diarrhoea as i woudnt want them to catch it, my dads a poorly man as it is. Why do i feel so bad though!?

Because we're in the mindset that we should work like we don't have kids & parent like we don't work.

It's fine. Your family needs you & you're doing the right thing. What would you say to a colleague in your position?

Life happens, the workplace won't close down & they should have contingency plans for one person being off for a few days.

I hope everyone feels better soon.

Thankyou @NewBinBag
I would tell a colleague that their family comes first and not to worry about work.
