What to do with this bonus

I’m in need for some quick advice. Say your monthly gross salary is 5K and you end up with 8K bonus this month what would be the best way to deal with it? Would it be best to maximise your pension contribution for the month? There’s no option to spread the payments.

Pay off debts
Over pay on the mortgage

If you won't miss it, pay it into your pension. Otherwise it'll all be taxed at 40%. In the month it's paid, some will be taxed at 45% although you'd get that 5% back after the end of the tax year.

Leaning towards paying about half most of it into pension payments currently. Hasn’t realised we’d get 5% back at the end of the tax year so that’s very good to know. Thank you. It’s money we never expected to get, so trying to use it wisely.
