Are interview times really allocated on a first come first served basis on Trac?

I was offered an interview last friday, for tomorrow. Trac says interview times are allocated on a first come first served basis. I'm not a morning person so I deliberately waited 5 days before booking the interview, hoping for a later time... Trac has given me 8.30am 😭

I thought it meant first come, first pick, so maybe everyone else isn’t a morning person neither!

Yes, the interview time slots are listed and you log in to select a slot so the first person to log in will have first choice of slots and so on. It's unlikely for additional slots to be listed although it could happen if someone cancels and their slot goes back in the pot.

perhaps all the other slots were chosen

"First come first served" means that the first people to log in get to choose their preferred time first (of all the timeslots were made available), not that the slots are filled in order of the time of the day.

By waiting five days before booking, you reduced the options left available for you to pick from. If you had booked first, you would have had more choice.

I’ve had an NHS interview booked through Trac and it said that times would be booked automatically on a first come first served basis - I logged on literally minutes after receiving my invitation email and wasn’t given any time choices - I was just given my actual interview time. So I wonder if there are two ways of setting the process up and some are given options and others are just allocated a time in the order they accept? I was very quick to accept and my time is in the afternoon so I’m wondering whether other people were even quicker than me or whether they’re only interviewing a small number in the afternoon? Or maybe it’s all just random!
