Hi, just wondered how other peoples' task workload has been? I have noticed things slackening off very significantly and perhaps it's because Dragon is being more widely used. (Voice recognition software).

More and more NHS trusts are encouraging the use of software that auto transcribes dictations. This may be why.

Absolutely, July so far has been absolutely hopeless,

Go on DICT8 plus 2024 that's the thread we are all using at the moment for info
and yes working is dwindling

Fuzzypop · 22/09/2025 13:40

I have had a break from it this summer because when I log on there were hardly any tasks and I type a few different specialities. Now autumn is here and nothing has changed, still so few tasks, not worth getting the laptop out for😕

I have noticed the workload has really dropped off. I only make around half of what I used to earn in a month.

BlissfullyBlue · 24/10/2025 15:54

AI does this work now.

Katwoman1960 · 24/10/2025 19:13

Hmnn. When I rang them to ask why workload was down they told me nothing has changed!!!! Used to make about £500, now lucky to make half that.

Hi Puribeachbab,
No diary this year so far. Definitely no pay rise. I've never had one in the 14 years I've worked at dict8. I asked about it once and was told in no uncertain terms that it was out of the question and not to ask again. I did hear that someone had brought the low pay and lack of any pay rise over the years up with ?Govt stating it was illegal but I'm a bit sketchy about the details.

Happy new year fellow transcribers. No diary, no notebook, no thank you, what a surprise and to top it all think there are new proof readers, nit-picking on spellings etc I've been using for god knows how many years, now they are wrong! So as per usual I will just ignore and delete the emails and carry on as usual.

Katwoman1960 · 04/02/2026 18:00

Also asked if AI was to blame for lack of work (voice recognition) and question was not answered, just told that they don't allocate the work and that specialities can sometimes be less busy. That is a joke as I am only getting about a third of the work I used to. No diary, notebook, thanks just nit picky proof readers!

Been typing for Dict8 for a number of years now and the work has definitely tailed off dramatically. One of my local private hospitals were using Dict8 up until a week or so ago, but have now brought in Carebit, so I suspect this is the way it's going to go now. I met up with one of the secretaries last night and she confirmed that all consultants have been given the option to use Carebit and they find it much more efficient as the letter can be handed to the patient on the way out of clinic!

Thanks for info Ruby Tuesday. Knew there was something. Just as well I get state pension this year then. Knew this would happen.
