I’ve been in my current job for 5 months. Always got on well with my colleagues, polite and friendly. A new guy started a couple months ago, he had previously worked in the same sector so didn’t really need any training in-fact a few times I’ve asked him about a few things that I’ve been unsure of. He’s also polite but doesn’t talk that much just gets on with his work. I’ve shown a general interest as I would any other colleague, asking where he’s going on holiday, family etc. A few weeks ago he asked me if I had a new perfume as I smelt nice and brought in some chocolates for me from his holiday abroad. Didn’t really think much of it at the time. Last week I was working with him again and he said my hair looked nice again brushed it off by saying ‘ thanks needs a wash to be honest 😀’. We have a works WhatsApp group so my number is there for all to see, but he asked if he could have my number I said it’s on the group if you need to message me just the same as anyone else.
The next day he messaged me saying he was glad he asked for my number and that he thought we had a good vibe at work. I replied saying my number is available to all in the chat who needs it. He hasn’t replied but for context he’s probably in his mid 20’s I’m mid 50’s!
Not really sure what to make of it to be honest never been in this sort of situation before. It’s a small business that doesn’t have a HR department just an owner and manager. Any advice on this one please.
