Book Keeping - Quickbooks

I can’t believe QuickBooks is now nearly £40/month for the self-employed version. It’s getting ridiculous. I’m seriously thinking of cancelling the Open Banking feeds constantly disconnect, and the whole system feels clunky.
I’m wondering if it might be better to just download CSVs from my bank and credit cards and dump them into ChatGPT or Excel to generate a simple spreadsheet. Has anyone else ditched QuickBooks and gone fully DIY? Would love to hear how you’re managing things now.

I was self employed for 5 years, I entered everything myself onto a spreadsheet then sent it off to an online accountant called tax scouts. Cost £120-150, can't remember the exact price. They're very good, let you review it before they send it off. They can also do it all for you if you send receipts etc but costs more. Easiest way is to keep on top of the spreadsheet weekly or monthly
