Work will not tell me my remaining time of full sick pay

I need to have planned surgery soon, it’ll be a long recovery time. So wanted to double check how many weeks left I have of full pay sick leave. I had calculated 7 weeks as had my manager, she had asked HR if our calculations were correct only to be told we hadn’t done it correctly.

Despite this, HR refuse to double check my calculations for me and give me some assurance over the situation. Is this normal? I’m so baffled.

Instead of asking how much you have left can you ask them to confirm how much you have used? They can’t refuse to give you data they already have

Thank you that’s so helpful. Why didn’t I think of this!?

Don’t forget you can accrue annual leave during sick leave so you’ll need to add this onto it as well as bank holidays as they are included in your leave entitlement.

So I tried this and lo and behold they refuse to tell me. Just told me how to work it out myself… is this right? Seems so weird.

They probably don’t want to get it wrong. It doesn’t mean it’s right but quite often they rely on the payroll/HR system rather than manually calculating it.

Legally your employer needs to tell you how much you have left if asked. Maybe a DSAR request?
