Seeking Opportunities

I post fairly infrequently on MN, so hope this is allowed.

I often see posts from other members about the jobs market and how they are struggling to recruit suitable people for various roles. I thought I’d take the plunge for my husband, to see if it leads to any interest.

He is ACCA part-qualified (first three exams) and has comprehensive accounts management and auditing experience, having recently completed the annual returns for a local authority, having used Scribe accounting software. He has comprehensive experience in using Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, and is currently studying for a part-time degree in BSc Computer Science (with OU). He also has solid experience in managing staff and a team, with his most recent role being a Deputy Manager in a local authority. He also has comprehensive experience in preparing reports and undertaking audits.

He is extremely hard working and keen to undertake additional training required to progress. We are based in the Midlands. If anyone knows of any opportunities, I would be keen to hear.

Has he tried other local or regional government roles? Maybe charities as well as the skills blend well with public sector sometimes?
Or other government departments/quangos? Regulatory bodies?
He sounds very skilled so I'm sure he'll get something soon x

He could try looking on Civil Service Jobs. I just searched using Accountant for Birmingham for external candidates and there were 4 roles, so worth having a look. We have a part qualified accountant on our team, but in a generalist, fairly junior role ( HEO) - junior for our setting I should say.

Does he have experience working in an LA finance team? As that's an area with a shortage of experienced staff.

Are you within commuting distance of London? As it might be worth considering there, too.

Or has his main area of experience been in audit so far?
