I have been approached to do some temporary work, short term but they want someone ASAP but need a reference from my former employer. They have said yes (I explained it was for temporary work and quite urgent when asking them if they would provide one) but 2 weeks on and they still haven’t done it. I have chased and was given a specific name in HR dealing with and was told it would be issued on Friday. It wasn’t (my potential employer let me know). I getting concerned that I will lose the role as I was attractive as I was known to them and in paper immediately available.
For what it’s worth I originally asked my line manager who agreed and has now passed to HR, I have chased both. It is also part of my contract they will provide but no timescale for providing.
What can I do to speed things up?
