A few of us girls in the office went out for a girls meal after work hours and this was not paid by our employer we all paid for our own individual meal and drinks. A male colleague has put in a complaint regarding sexual discrimination about us going out for food. This has not been taken any further but found it hard to understand as this was not meant to cause anyone to feel left out but just a group of friends who happen to work together have food outside of our work hours. Just anyone’s thoughts and options would be grateful. 🙏🏼

If the night out was organised on work channels so physically during work time or on a work messaging service that further strengthens the legal position that this is something work may be responsible for.

How many people were not invited vs invited? Was it being discussed around the left out individual, do they usually get included?

Male entitlement, innit?

I don’t know. Think of the classic case of all the men going out to the pub or to play golf and not include the women. They have been accused of sexual discrimination because it can be seen that business is discussed at these events so the women are being disadvantaged

So, a group of under 18s from a workplace, who are all friends inside and outside of work, decided to socialise?

I don't see a problem with that.

The guy raising a complaint is unreasonable if it was a social evening amongst friends.

Don't be obtuse.

it's common to call an all female group a group of girls.

have you heard of the term girlfriend? Would you prefer it if someone said 'I'm going out with my Womanfriend?'

grow up

It can be classed bullying if one person is deliberately laughed out e.g. if everyone in the team goes out except one person. How many people work in the office and how many went on the night out?

Seriously can't even be friends with anyone from work anymore.

The guy needs to get over it.
