Shall I look for a new job or stay put?

I am early 50s and work for a very large corporate organisation. There are good perks and I like the people in general.

I was hoping I could progress there, look for promotion; however I am competing with very young people without family commitments and the last two annual reviews have been demotivating.

This year no bonus or pay rise. My utilisation was a bit low this year as I lost one of my biggest clients last year. I have been getting up new projects, helping with proposals, etc.

I don’t know whether I should ignore these reviews/politics and stay put, concentrate on the positives. I feel I work hard and contribute but certainly not putting 12 hours 5 days per week.

Or wether I should look for a better opportunity? I know the job market is not great at the moment. Hoping to retire by 60.

Bumping, but reading other post where people in their 50s are struggling to find a job. I think I should stay put.

There's no harm in looking but there's not a lot out there at the moment.

Thank you. Will keep an eye; a bit concerned about loosing the stability that I got at the moment; but on the other hand I always felt valued on my previous jobs so it is a bit hard when you get scored low.

Company scored people from 1 to 5 each year. And it is pretty much down to the boss no matter what feedback you get. Trying to not let this get me down and focus on the positives. Thinking is nothing personal and is just a job.

The good news is you have been there a while. You can determine your hours, you can get the promotion, older people make natural better leaders in the company.

Stay put

Thank you. I think I would stay put, do my best but lower my expectations.
