Hello so I’ve started work for a home office project based locally that is a fixed 12 month contract being out in the community bringing down crime rates just with your sheer present basically that’s the plan.

Whilst I’m not necessarily enjoyed the job, I’ve been quite good at it. Brought a lot of life skills and parenting skills to the role rather than my professional skills which are in Finance and HR
I’m just wondering if there’s any way I can utilise this experience going forward to secure another role within the civil service or the local council. All ideas welcome. I am on a 14 year countdown to retirement if they don’t move the goal posts again. And whilst the enhanced pension contributions were extremely welcomed, it doesn’t really make up for the overall package.
I feel a bit torn at the moment

If you work for the civil service you have already retired, you just do not know it yet.

Nothing could be further from the truth. I am on my feet from the moment we clock on until the moment we clock off I don’t get time to piss most days. Never mind eat.
I worked in industry for 28 years and believe me this is not the soft option

Why do it then? Martyrdom maybe?

I couldn’t get a job in my chosen profession, so I decided to do that rather than have a gap on my CV
As I said, pensions not bad and I cant spend it
