I can’t really tell anyone at the moment because I want the paperwork through from HR and to tell my manager but I’ve got my Grade 7 promotion.

Found out on Friday afternoon and have until Wednesday to formally accept. Totally new area, small team - steep learning curve.

Touch of imposter syndrome slowly creeping in and I’m dreading telling my manager I’m leaving. Telling myself I need to be a little selfish on this one as there’s likely to be a recruitment freeze in my organisation within the next 6 months.
(I have an awful habit of talking myself out of things to make other people’s lives easier).

Congratulations. Fake it until you make it?

Well done in your promotion! Just accept it and be happy - it’s not your job to make other people’s lives easier. Your responsibility is to yourself and your family, so raise a glass and enjoy your new-found and well-deserved position.

Oh. The clap hands emoji was in congratulations not thanks 🙃

CloudPop · 25/05/2025 11:44

You applied - you got it - so they obviously think you deserve and are up to the job. Hearty congratulations- onwards and upwards !

Well done!
Tell your imposter syndrome that the interview panel clearly think you're the best person for the role. And they know better than the doubting voice in your head does.

SwanOfThoseThings · 26/05/2025 09:40

Well done! Remember that they wouldn't have appointed you if they didn't feel you were competent, and if your current manager is sorry to be losing you, that's good - you wouldn't want them to be happy you were moving.

Snowstorm25 · 27/05/2025 13:10

Great news! Congratulations! Imposter syndrome is a bugger - but remember the real imposters don’t get imposter syndrome 🙂 You’ve got the role because you deserve it and they know you can do it!
