Low level bullying from new boss

Some advice please. I’m two months into a new job and I’m struggling. My new boss is loud, brash and sometimes inappropriate, I’m not a big fan but am able to rise above it and carry on professionally. However, in the last week or so, he has kept me isolated from team meetings (there is only 4 of us) said no when I’ve offered to get trained up on different systems. I offer help constantly but he often leaves me without any work to do. Hours can go by where there is nothing for me to do! I sense that the leadership team know something isn’t right. We have had chats but they mostly involved my boss talking at me in a bunch of leadership jargon and we don’t seem to get anywhere. I like the environment and the people but I am the boss’s assistant so this is a major issue. Any thoughts?

Sounds like he doesn’t want or need an assistant

First post nailed it. Also he sounds either insecure or a control freak or both because isolation from team meetings is otherwise a bit strange.

He wants to keep you out of meetings because you might come up with a bright idea he hasn't thought of, and that would never do.
