HELP - part time question after maternity !

Hi.

my DS is going to be 1 in September as I return to work.

So I’ve just recently put in a request for part time at work , they have come back with working 5 days 5 hours a week 8am - 1pm.

The timing of this would perfectly match my DS nursery free hours all year round and I work in the same location as the nursery. This would mean I save on childcare costs par 100 quid a month which is preety amazing!

Drawbacks -
The draw backs are travel. I work 25 minutes from work. Get up at 6 each morning and so will my DS. Not having full day to spend doing errands.

Positives -
What I spend on petrol I guess I save on childcare costs as no need to buy additional hours. Fits with DS perfectly. Will be able not to rush home and spend time together in the afternoon and evening.

Whats everyone’s take on it ?

I would’ve initially preferred 3 days on , 2 days off.

I still don’t know whether to accept.

I think 5 half days is ideal! I would much rather that than 3 full days. It sounds like a win win situation.

That sounds good, also thinking ahead to school, you’d be able to do all the afternoon pickups/play dates/afterschool activities!

Sounds perfect to me, and I agree with a previous post, it sets you up well for school hours later.

I would take the offer, and plan to do errands like food shop/parcel returns etc on your way home in the afternoons.
