Hi I’m looking for some suggestions

Im a busy full time working mum and I feel like im not spending enough time with my child who is in nursery x4 days while I work full time condensed hours over x4 days

how does everyone balance work and life with one child? Any suggestions welcome on work patterns etc and what makes them feel more balanced

I'm in a similar position. I've let house standards drop significantly, and things like my own health and exercise (not ideal). From nursery pick up until bedtime, she gets my full attention. Also in the morning we get quality time, even if we're running late, then I'm fortunate in my job to just be late - I don't let mornings become stressed. My husband does the same as me most days so we get proper family time everyday. Similar to weekends, we keep most weekends as family time, this suits us as we're not very busy and quite like weekends fr downtime too.

We don't always manage to eat together, but I always sit with my little one whilst she eats. I batch cook and portion out nice meals so cooking her dinner is quick, easy and healthy.

Think about when your non working day is. Mid week can add more balance than a long weekend does.

Be clear about what is work time and what’s mum time. Muddling the two tends to mean both are done badly. That realistically means having someone else responsible for your child for all your work time, so do sense check whether that’s the case. Compressing full time into 4 days is a big squash unless you have a role that has relatively low full time hours, stays in it’s hours and short commutes.
